Generate simple uncompressed BMP copies of JPEG images for older applications, embedded workflows, and strict bitmap importers.
Why JPG to BMP increases file size
A JPG stores photographic pixels with lossy compression, while this BMP output stores decoded pixels as 24-bit RGB or 32-bit RGBA rows. The visual content does not gain detail, and the resulting bitmap is usually much larger.
How to convert JPG to BMP
- Add JPG or JPEG files using the picker or drag and drop.
- Select the bitmap bit depth required by the destination software.
- Convert locally and download the BMP files you need.
When this converter is useful
- Import a photograph into legacy Windows software.
- Supply raw bitmap pixels to a simple image-processing pipeline.
Supported files and limitations
- Maximum input size is 50 MB; decoded-memory limits also apply
JPG to BMP questions
Why is the BMP larger than the JPG?
BMP stores supported pixels without JPEG-style compression, so a successful conversion normally produces a much larger file.
Do these files leave my device?
No. Supported files are inspected and converted in this browser tab. Up to 50 files can be queued; up to 30 smaller files or three 50 MB files can be processed at once.
